Default 231 tcase upgrade.

Hey everyone, I'm new to the forum and looking for some answers. I am about to install a teraflex sye in my 231j tcase and caught wind that a dodge 231d hd tcase gas a wider chain and sprockets. So does anyone know what truck is the best one to get parts from?

You get the same result going with An S-10 case. Wider chain and sprockets.

Doesn't matter for internals. They are the same aside from the wider chain. I know this.

If you've got the dough I recommend the 241OR. Bolts right in and you get 4:1.

i built a 231 for my lsx swap:

jeep case
np241c 6 pinion planetary(some s10 231 cases have these, some have 4 pinion)
np241c input shaft(for the chevy trans only) the jeep 21/23 spline will work in the new planetary
np231c/d wide chain and gears.

its pretty straight forward, ive read that its somewhere around 60% stronger.

keep in mind the gear cuts change in 96, if you have a 98 case you can only use 96+ gears in it, and if its a 96 - case you can only use 96- gears

check out my v8 swap thread theres some more info and pics of comparisons, links in my sig
