I have no issues with 20's, but on the right vehicle. IMO a cherokee is not the right vehicle. I run 20x10's on my daily driver but thats a diesel, and I sure as heck wouldn't run a stretched tire.
The weight alone of a 20x12 is going to cause more wear and tear, not too sure whats going to need to be cut/clearanced to have a half way decent turning radius. Are you planning on re-gearing?

ya ill keep my weekend warrior on 20s have fun playing mr potato head with ur xj or never ending welding on ur unibody blows my mind that you would want to spend the money building a off road jeep that don't even have a real frame only way these thing are capable of serious off roading is with aloooot of welding an even then u'll constantly be re welding cracks....u must be a fisherman your very good at trolling didn't start this post for opinions on how my rig would look was looking for help on clearence
BTW you should really know WTF you're talking about before you open your mouth. My XJ was plenty capable before welding in stiffeners, and ran many trails from Colorado to California, and several places in between. I added them in to make it even better, and what do you know, it worked great, and there is no constant rewelding that you talk about, because I installed them correctly and know how to weld. Did my research, for not only what I wanted, but what was needed to make it all work properly.
I'm closing this crapfest before it gets out of hand. Good luck to you, and your new wheels. Hope your wallet can afford the wear and tear on the rest of your rig.
