Default 1991 jeep cherokee snorkle question

Hello I am new to this forum and I have my snorkel to install and I know there are many ways to install it but I was just wondering for some help, I have a 1991 jeep cherokee 4-door base model. have no inner wheel covers nor fender flares yet. I want to install it on the left side, thanks.

Are we talking a true snorkle or a cowl intake?

Welcome to the forum!

First off it would be better if we had the model and company of the snorkel that you have purchased. Different companies will have different procedures for installation. Many will give you a template of where to cut the whole in the driver side fender. If they do not, my suggestion would be to install the intake portion that is under the hood first. With the tube that will be going through the fender, trace a circle around the intake tube with sharpie on the fender and drill a hole in the center of the circle (get the diameter and divide by two). From there use a hole saw that is smaller than the circle you drilled (remember, you always can cut more but you can add more). Once you have the right size hole piece the snorkel together and have fun.

Most snorkels should come with directions, if it doesn't you can always Google search videos of different companies snorkels to get the idea of what you are doing.

Let me know if you can see the photo or not, I know how I am going to do it the only quesion I really have is about the tubing that goes from the snorkle to the intake, it goes in the wheel wells and if I go through mud or some rocks fly up and put holes in the tubing itself then the snorkle is pointless. I have a hot air intake on it right now it's how I got the jeep only have had it a few months and had to do some tune ups on it. thanks for the help!

You're also supposed to leave the inner fenderwell liner in with these kits as to help prevent that from happening.

There is supposed to be an adapter to fit over the inlet of your stock airbox. This fitting is what the tube attaches to.

I saw the pic. Run it how the directions tell you, and when you are done with the install, get some heavy rubber or sheet metal and make a cover to protect it from debris.

Proper bumpstopping will keep this from happening.
