Default 17in rim on 16.5in tire

as the title states is it possible to run a 17in rim on a tire that is ment for a 16.5in rim. reason im asking is because i will hopefully be getting new tires soon and im upgrading to 36's or 37's that are hummvee take offs they r also 12.50in wide so what would be a good rim to get so i dont getting rubbing. thanks

You're going to have to either swap out your axles or buy recentered rims with your bolt pattern. The h1 or double beadlock 16.5" rims you can normally buy cheap I believe are 8lug rims. Youd be better off just buying 36s for your 17" rims.

Think about what you're asking and do the math.

That's like asking, can I use a 1/2" ratchet on a 3/8" socket?

yea i know its 1/2 an inch off but wasnt sure if i could sqeeze the rim in the tire and have it work im not retarded or anything just dont know a lot about fitting tires to rims and the rim is only 1/4 inch off on each side which is a very small amount now if it was a 16in tire going onto a 17in rim then i could tell u it didnt work

If a 16.5" tire could fit on a 17" wheel...there would be NO 16.5" wheel...
