Default 130 amp alternator upgrade

Hello all, so I have a 130 alternator ready to drop into my 89 renix cherokee, but I am worried about catching it on fire from using the factory wiring harness which utilizes a 60 amp alternator... So what I am wondering about is if anyone has any experience upgrading the harness of a renix xj to handle a higher output alternator and what all exactly needs to be upgraded. I have replaced a lot of the factory grounds and battery cables etc as they have been discovered. And while I am on the topic of wiring, does anyone have any info on upgrading the headlight harness? I have read posts in the pasts saying after upgrade was a night and day difference. Thanks again for any info in advance,
-Phil

When I did my upgrade (97 sport, not renix) I used 2 AWG copper wire and re-did all battery cables, alt cables, and starter cables. Don't forget the one from the engine block to the firewall. Noticeable improvement just from larger gauge wires. I used a 160A alt from a 2001 Durango.

how much did you have to grind out of the alt bracket to get it to fit?
