05 4.0 into 95 Cherokee question.
I have looked bUT didn't find what I was looking for. I have a 2005 4.0 and 6spd 4wd trans. I'm dropping it in my 1995 2door 2wd Cherokee and just wanted to know if anyone has advice for integrating the new harness and computer to the current Cherokee harness. I do have the schematics for both and I may use the entire harness and Guage cluster but I hate to down my Cherokee for too long since I drive it daily. My 95 fuse box has issues and I know in time I need to fix it if I leave it lol.
Does anyone think it's worth using the Direct ignition on the newer engine? Or should I drop the distributor in and leave it normal? Long term I don't plan on using the 4.0 past this year. I have a Mercedes 3.0 turbo and I just need money for the adapter so I torn on waiting for that or adding the 4wd on a day off. Any help is appreciated and all advice. Concidered.

Accessories I didn't concider. I'll see what I can figure out. I'm a machinist by trade and have a mobile welding fabrication business so mover braket's don't scare me and will probably take me more time to unpack and clean up my tools than the actual work will take.
The transfer mount brake looks like it's offset so I assumed it would take up the difference of lenth. But I kept all the wrangler parts in case I had to mod those for use as well. When i get time to marrow I'll take measurements for a better idea. Thanks for the input

It's not the fabricating and installing.. It's what's in the way on the final vehicle. Having to weld a motor-mount to a floorpan would be bad.
Sounds like you are on top of it.. Let us know what you eventually find out. Would love to re-power my 92 with a current 4.0.

I really would rather put the Mercedes 3.0 in so I may just wait and do that with the 6spd trans. I like the engine mounts the IronMan4x4 sells. It's a toughy to decide. My 4.0 has 246k miles and runs great, use the 05 4.0 with 30k miles. Or save time and money for the Diesel.
I'm definitely not afraid to make things. My favorite project was a 1984 SVO Mustang 2.3 ford. Volo twin cam head and twin turbos. 608hp 584 ftlbs. Only the body was stock. 04 Cobra drive train. A video is onYouTube.
