Would I be crazy to spend this much on an XJ?

Idk.....right now yes. But would you have ever thought you'd see prices like they are for the mustang 5.0 - as many as they made? They're getting scarce and pricey.

Same with the XJ in some areas. Look how ridiculous the resell is on the CJs and YJs!

For 10.5k you can buy a clean stocker for 3k and have a 0 mile engine put in it and have a 4k left over.

I read a lot of people online saying that XJ's are cheap and abundant but unfortunately that's not the case in my area. I was only considering this one because it essentially looks and runs like a brand new Jeep. If I could get something that will last a lot longer and is in much better condition I'm willing to spend some extra. I wasn't planning on offering the full asking price though.

Since it seems like the general consensus is that this is stupidly overpriced though I'm passing.

All depends on what you are looking for. 2000 seems to be the king as far as the defective cylinder head. 3-4 k is the average price for a stock vehicle in "good" condition, unless it had been fully restored you will never find a 13 year old vehicle in excellent or like new condition. Keep searching you'll find one. With the change from service stations to convenience stores vehicles are no longer regularly maintained, only serviced after the damage is done, something else to keep in mind.

Wronglers have always been through the roof... its the reason I got an XJ.

But there is some crazy pricing going on right now in my area too.... I don't get it... I guess demand has shot up.
