Let's say you slid off the highway and ended up in the median and came to a complete stop, what is the best way to get back onto the road? Are you better off getting out and letting air out of the tires or don't mess with the tires and just lay on the throttle? I've always wondered about this, and with the roads being terrible for the last few days it would be good info to know. I haven't really played in deep snow off the pavement so I'm not sure how hard it is to dig yourself into a hole

Yeah, romp on the gas for a little until you either know your stuck, or you are coming un-stuck.
Keep a fold-up snowboarding/avalanche shovel in the trunk also (and recovery straps).

I've got winter pizza cutter tires so I wasn't sure if You would be better off mashing the throttle to try and get some bite, or letting most the air out and try an float over it. I've seen those shovels but every time I go to buy one they are sold out! lol

From my experience, making you tires fatter doesn't really help unless there's a crap ton of snow on the ground. If 4x4 and digging doesn't get you out, hope that a passing car will pull ya out. Or best case scenario, I happen along

I was just looking at your profile and it says you running duratracs and then you said in your last post that your running pizza cutters. Are you saying your not using the duratracs?

Eh, if you slide off you have to at least try dropping it to 4 hi and just going out. If you cant get out. Air down and give it a shot. Best thing might be if you slide into the median, dont stop just regain control when you get that grip and keep going, maybe pop in 4hi on the go(dont need to be in neutral) Ive gotten pretty good at doing it fast, popping in halfway up a hill that i looked at and said "eh 2wd and some skinny pedal should work". Oh and I have gone like a week at 12 psi dailying it and no issues with the duratracs.

Or you could just put it in 4wd when you get on a snowy road and drive normal and you won't end up in the median. Just about every person I have seen go into the ditch in the winter is driving like they just stole the damn car and are trying to out run the cops. Lol. Oh I will be up in your area next weekend, driving from Iowa to Allendale, hopefully I don't get stuck in all the bs on I-65 through Indiana.

I like to use 4lo. You don't want to break traction, because at that point your going to go no where. Sometimes when your stuck, there's no good way of getting out other than getting some assistance.
