Mines mounted on the passenger side of the transmission tunnel. I can always reach it in a second from that spot.

i have 2 in the jeep. one is mounted in the back cargo area on drivers side by the window. then the other one is right behind the drivers seat.

What style/brand did you purchase? Big, small, bracket types? I don't want to buy something that's overkill, then again I don't want to be laughed at when it's spotted ya know.

I just bought one from Lowe's, came with a metal bracket. I think its like a 3 lb one maybe?

I mounted mine Just below the rearmost passenger side window. Understandably that isn't really a convenient location and I now regret putting it there, but I can't decide a better, closer location.

on the a pillars. when you have a fire, you will be glad they were within arms reach.

It's a shovel and an axe, in a cheap Walmart gun rack. Held on with green rubber Raptor Straps.
