Where to mount fire extinguisher?
Remember to do maintenance on the dry chem fire estinguishers. They will cake up at the lowest part of the canister. I use a rubber mallet and tap the bottom, I usually do it every couple of months.

Nice thread! I was just thinking about a fire extinguisher after seeing two chrome ones on Craigslist for $10 each. They were sold tho. Still need one.
I was thinking of putting it on the trans tunnel on the rear on passenger side. I can reach it easy. Anyone got one there?

I absolutely support having a fire extinguisher on hand as much as possible/practical.
My question though, what situation are we actually expecting to use this extinguisher? I've only once seen an engine on fire, and it took the fire department at least 30 minutes to put it out.
I could see keeping an ABC extinguisher ready in case a campfire gets crazy though.

When I wandered out to the scene, there was light smoke coming from under the hood. Someone lifted the hood, and the fire burst out. It was at apartment building, so there were a few extinguishers nearby (I don't remember the class). None of them did any good.
Maybe a class K could put out the oil, but they'd be useless for almost any other type of fire.
Maybe one of those foam extinguishers could be multipurpose enough.
