I know y'all got this figured out. Is there enough space under the back seat to store your gun or do you have a neat set up in prep for the zombie apocalypse?
Let's see what you got.

Yup not that way here in MO. for a rifle, handgun another story. I keep my HK-91 with stock collapsed beside passenger seat and console with a towel thrown over it.
Loaded and unloaded varies by state also if hidden.
BTW I do have a CCW.

Of course my question is to those who can and do legally have their long arms in their jeep. As to the wisdom of such, that's a subject for another thread.

I'm in TN and as long as it's up to and including "cruiser ready"* then long guns are good to go. Permit, no permit, doesn't matter as long as you're otherwise legally allowed to own the gun. Handguns have no status condition, so you could store your AR pistol with a round chambered but not your AR rifle.
BTW, never do that. I've personally seen an AR pattern rifle fire a live round with the safety on when dropped. Always go cruiser ready on anything that's not drop-safe!
*Cruiser ready: Mag loaded and inserted, but chamber empty

Kentucky you can have a loaded pistol in the glove box,Anything else has to be in plan sight and not loaded.Thats why every pickup here has a gun rack in the back window lol.

I was on the Sheriff's Dept. for several yrs. in the late 80-mid 90's down here. The rifle that was issued was a Ruger .556 I liked it better than the old M-16's they retired main reason was selective fire single, 3 shot burst, full auto. The 3 shot burst is more useful than full auto in most every condition in that usage if needed, which I never did.
Several on the dept. had problems qualifying with them at the range even with a 3 shot burst much less full auto, a few never did and were not issued them.
