I have a lifted '99 Jeep Cherokee sitting at a mechanic's shop right now. If it passes his scrutiny I'm buying it. It has some pretty fat tires on it and the mechanic says, at first blush, they won't pass inspection. At least at his shop. He said I'd have two choices: 1) get skinnier tires, or 2) put some plastic flares over them.

What do you guys think?

 

I should mention that by not passing inspection, they are sticking out too far. The condition of the tires is very good.
