Last month in May I drove from Chicago To LA. Stopped at all the national parks I possible could within two weeks. This was the second time I had driven cross country to LA. Last year I took a different route. Currently has 181k with the original head. It's a 2001 XJ. Got it with 123k about three years ago. Anyone on here do road-trips? Pretty cheap alternative to drive my own jeep. Plus I get to see a lot more.

I did Chicago to Moab last fall, wheeled for a week or so and then drove back. It was around 3k miles all in about 12 days. Jeep had around 150k at the time, and did great other than struggling up a few mountain passes in Colorado. It was a fun trip but I'll be towing it out there next time, so I can break stuff and not have to worry about driving it back.

Hey I wanted to know, is that location a famous spot in MOAB? I see so many pictures at it and never can grab a name. Love your 2dr btw.

Yea those mountains were the worst. Had to drive behind the semis at times.
My longest would have to be from Minnesota to southwest New Mexico; somewhere between 4000-5000 miles on the total trip. That was at about 160000 miles on the Jeep.
Brought the Jeep to Missouri a couple times, 1200 miles each trip.
Toured the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, about 1500 miles that week.
Just got back from a trip to the Ozark National Forest in Arkansas, about 1800 miles. With that trip, my Jeep passed the 200,000 mile mark!
Tomorrow, my wife and I are leaving on a short trip to the Boundary Waters; only putting about 800 miles on the Jeep (we do that 2-3 times each year, this is the second already).
This past Sunday (7/10) I got home after taking a trip to Yellowstone National Park. I put ~2637 miles on the Jeep in 10 days!
^^^This was the only offroading I was able to do during the trip. This was a mild trail in the Shoshone National Forest. There was just too much to do in Yellowstone and not enough time!
I averaged 21.2 mpg overall during the whole trip, with 24.4 mpg being the highest and 17.5 mpg being the lowest. The 17.5 was while driving back across South Dakota during the return leg of the trip while bucking a nasty crosswind. Considering that I got those numbers out of a 23-year-old four banger made the blood, sweat, and tears of my recent conversion to an external slave cylinder (along with a new clutch and flywheel) worth it.
Also, I crossed 190K on the trip! The XJ is now sitting at just over 191,500 miles.
This thread is full of awesome pics, hopefully I can add to it some day. The longest trip I've made in mine wasn't more than 15 miles I can't wait to get this thing road worthy and put some miles on it.

I'm only running a 2 inch budget lift. Trying to keep it as stock as possible. I've wanted to go into a bigger lift with bigger tires but after I do that my long trips will be over.
In 99 I took a whole month off and drove from OKC to Seattle and loaded it on the ferry to Haines BC and then drove the rest of the ALCan to Anchorage and then back. About 9k for the whole trip and side trips.
