Question What you'd pay for this XJ?

I know I've been posting here and there about XJ's and if they are good deals, but I just dont want to regret the deal I make.

http://detroit.craigslist.org/wyn/cto/1622797753.html

Its got 200k on the body and 65k on motor with receipt, how legit would a receipt be to tell if it really has low miles? I know to look for leaks and rust and just the entire condition of body but what are some specifics to XJ, I should check out when I go see this XJ? Is it worth 3k obo, KBB has it at 2k with 200k miles and 3300 with 65k miles so I'm maybe looking at offering 2500? does it sound like a good price? Thx for your time guys, I appreciate helping me being closer to my damn XJ,

id say 2500 is fair. look under the oil cap and check the condition of the parts for sludge. and any oil discoloration also check the coolant for any discoloring. looks nice tho

Drummerwookie, you got a point there, didn't think of that and I just found a 3 day older post he put up for 2700, hmm, Idk its a tough one, but If I have to repair parts little after I buy it I rather wait and get 1k more and get a better milage car, or shoot for a lowball to 2k and see if he'll take it for 2200 max.

and you gotta remember that the deals are always going to be out their so if you don't get one now , you will most likely not have a problem finding another good deal

1800, maybe. I see much better XJs for 3000$ on Craigslist pretty often, methinks.

I would judge by his English skills that he really needs to go to school....so... give 'em the full amount.

very true...a friend of mine bought a 97 XJ in sept of 08 with 130k miles and paid 3000 for it and it looks really good and runs really well and it had 70k less miles then the jeep the OP is looking at...

like i said earlier with my 2200 estimation, that was stretching it to the max..

all i know is, even tho my jeep was older then the one your looking at, my XJ had 204k miles when i bought it, granted i bought it from a friend of mine, but he sold it to me for what it was worth, which was 1100 bucks...and everything on that was good for the most part....i had to replace all the u-joints, a wheel cylinder and a wheel bearing, but all easy and cheap fixes when done at home....other that then the jeep was in great shape when i only paid 1100 for it

So just last night I got a text from this person saying that he talked to his dad and he'll take 2k for it. I told him I talked to some people about it and its not worth what hes asking for. LOL, does this guy sound desperate to sell his car because of issues with it or is he really need money for school, I'm so stumped on what to do, I guess I could go look at it. Though its was good enough to post.
