What would it be worth.

I know this question gets asked a whole lot, but putting a fair price on a Jeep that you have owned for a while can be hard because it is always going to be worth more to you than anyone else.
So, the story. I bought this Jeep in high school from FL. It had 176k miles on it never really wheeled it just got it muddy from time to time. It lived most of its life in Knoxville, Tn, but is now currently located in Northern Ohio. My dad has it and it uses it only in the winter when the snow is bad. It does have some minor rust popping up but nothing major. It was in a minor accident that bent the back end a little but it has been pulled and welded and the only evidence is a little paint missing from the quarter panel (that was the reason I gave it to my dad I needed something to pull a trailer). It has oil changed regularly and any other maintenance it needed done as well (not exactly sure will need to ask dad what all he has replaced). It is completely factory and will need new tires and possibly some ball joints in the front end. It runs great and starts every time, has the normal oil leaks but does not burn oil. 217k miles, 92 laredo 4 door, np231, d30, dont remember back axle I think d35, aftermarket cd player and speakers. Thats about it. Interior is in very good shape minus the headliner which I bedlined.
This is the only picture I have.

It was going to be my little brothers but he doesn't want it. He wants something better on gas so my dad was thinking about selling it and asked what I thought.

Yeah, I'd agree with the person above. About 1500 sounds right. All gas prices/consumption aside... why would your brother NOT want a 92 XJ still?!

Right now he is having a hard time finding a job and the parents told him he is not getting it until he finds one.....not even mickey d's is hiring near us. Any how, the Jeep gets awful gas mileage and he doesn't want to be spending money on gas (can't say I blame him, I put about $250-300 in gas in my Jeep a month and it starts to suck after a while). Hell, if I had the garage and the place to store it I would buy it for the misses and build her a trail rig.

Your brother is an idiot. As a rule of thumb, always take a free, running vehicle when the chance comes up. He wants something that will be good on gas? Your parents will be paying for gas, so what does it matter? He won't have any cash to go out and do anything, unless he has a job, but even then his options for fun will be limited until he reaches 21.

As for not being able to do anything fun until he is 21; he likes to mtn bike, hike, rock climb, long board, all sorts of stuff that doesn't require being 21 but does require a fair amount of driving.
If you put a little wrench time in with a tuneup, clean the throttle body and K&N to get it breathing, you can get close to 20mpg. I would much rather drive the XJ instead of a prius or TDI jetta, but, thats me.
Back to the original question, Depending on running condition $1,500 poor and $2,200 needing nothing

I agree with the $1500ish since a older XJ that has a clean underside is hard to find up here in OH but the mileage could scare some people away.
Where in northern OH?
You should ask him where does he think how often he is going to be driving to make that much of a difference? I went from a 4 cylinder Grand Am that got about 30 MPG to the cherokee that got about 20, but being in high school, drove to school, work and friends houses, at the max 100 miles a week, and maybe $5 difference per week in gas..
And if he lives here in OH, I would take the bad mileage to be safe, and ease of driving in the snow over fuel economy anyday

Well, I didn't exactly give it to him per say. When I got rear ended it bent the "frame" just a little where the trailer hitch bolts to the body. This put the hitch at a bad angle and I didn't feel safe pulling trailers anymore and seeing how I owned a landscaping company that wasn't an option. So I found the Jeep I have now but I was a little short on cash so my dad paid the difference in exchange for my old jeep. Ended up being about $2400.
