These aren't for everyone one with an XJ but they do for me what I need a shock to do.

Bilstein 5100's. Nice shock for the money. I will probably move my fronts to the back and get new 5165's when i have the money.

I'll go ahead and say it, all white body shocks are the same.

I've seen you guys say that a thousand times and I pretty much believe it, though some have to be better than others right? Though I feel my zone lift springs are a bit stiff, I have been considering going to the 5100's. I'd like a somewhat softer ride, life a trophy truck...obviously I know that takes lots of money and coil overs and blah blah, but how close could I get with springs and shocks?

Sure, but none of them will ever compare to a gas charged shock like a Bilstein or a Fox. I'm just saying that they are all in the same performance level. Anyone who says that one white body shock is a million time better than another has never had some quality shocks.

You can get a good ride out of a spring and shock set up, just on the higher end of things. I like my RE coils and 5100's. They ride just fine. I'd like to see how the 5165's do, but a very nice set up would be some deaver progressive springs and some 7100's, or the Fox equivalent.

Nope. 5165 has a remote reservoir, the 5150 had an attached reservoir.

BILSTEIN 5100's can't remember the price first place that had all 4 in stock when I called and ready to ship. Just gave them a CC # and to email me an invoice had them in 3 days.

Maybe give or take $400 I've slept since then.

The bilsteins are nice. Even the 5125s do great for the price.

If you want to get something a little better you can find a set of used but in good shape smooth body shocks like sway away or foxes for not a whole lot more money.
This way if the ride seems off a little you can have them re valved to what works for you instead of having to deal with the ride or replace them with a different pair.

Bilstein 5100's front and rear it rides sooooooo nice. Feels like a Cadillac and I haven't got my long arms yet...
