I have a 99xj with 30" bfg a/ts currently. I have a 2" lift waiting to be installed Coil spacers and add a leaf with silverado shackles in the rear. (My rear is sagging a solid inch i would guess) Im curious about getting shocks and don't have a lot of money to spend. Might've been a good idea to actually get a lift kit but oh well. Can i just get 2 shocks or do I need to get all 4 done at once. also if I can do just one is it better to do front or rear?

its better to just bite the bullet and save your money until you can afford what you really want. don't spend your cash on stuff that won't give you much of a return, like generic white body shocks...cheap, but they dont have the capabilities of a nice Biltstein 5xxx series or something along those lines, and longevity. you get what you pay for with shocks.

do all 4 at once. try to find some used shocks. check your local naxja.org chapter or craigslist. guy in the sierra chapter practically giving away some front shocks http://www.naxja.org/forum/showthread.php?t=1094343

Like most guys on here say, either save up for a whole taller/better lift, or if you really need shocks now get the cheapest cheap-o's you can find and then save for better shocks after.

KYB Gas Adjust mono tubes are affordable through www.rockauto.com . Shocks will not fix a sagging suspension, they do not support weight, only dampen the suspension movement.

if you still can't find shocks, check out autozone and the like. measure what lengths you need and go pick some up. I run max control shocks up front. $40 lifetime warranty and without the shock boot and sticker, people mistake them for bilsteins
they're not comfortable. but they're cheap and stiff enough to run without a front sway bar. also had to weld a bracket up front becuase they are not stem shocks

The rears are likely to be tricky. Do you have access to an air chisel?
