Default what is this plug for?

00 xj sport without fogs. Was clipped behind the front bumper in the middle. No other wires near it. I read online that the 97+ dont have plug and play fog lights so what could this be for?
I know its not the best picture ill get a better one later.

Maybe for ambient temp thermometer? I know on my jeep (90') it's in the middle of the bumper. My other guess would be fogs also.

Ditto for the ambient temp thermometer. Especially if it is in the dead center. Have one in my '00 that does not have the overhead console. Put factory fogs in an '00 that did not come with them. I think it is very unusual to find the plugs in there. To rig mine up I had to steal the connectors from a Grand Cherokee. None of the Sports I checked in the junkyards had them.

It is the ambient temperature sensor plug for the overhead console. I have no idea why that portion of the circuit is included in the engine bay harness, but at least for the '97 up XJs it is there.
