what engines will fit in 96 jeep grand Cherokee 4.0

91-99 will fit. 97-99 will require you to modify the coolant temp sender location. 91-96 is a direct bolt in. If you find a 99 it must be from an XJ. A 99 WJ and Wrangler 4.0 won't work for you.

I swapped a 96 XJ 4L into a 93 ZJ and had to swap all the accessories and brackets. I reused the ZJ intake just because it was in better shape but I think they have different mounts anyway.

I got a 99 4.0 I have the intake and computer and what not In a box. I put in a stage 1 cam new lifters and push rods, lapped the valves, put in a high volume oil pump put on new water pump, thermostat, plus wires and distributor all new . New gaskets all the way around
