Hey all, I'm looking to join you all as a Cherokee XJ owner now that my 2nd gen 4Runner is all but rusted through (was living in the Midwest when I bought it unfortunately). I've learned a lot just from reading posts here, but would love any input you all have on this one.
I've been looking at "clean" stock XJs in my area and been disappointed by rust and general lack of maintenance/care each time I've gone to see one.
I found this one in Idaho about a 4 hours drive away from where I'm living. The seller's been responsive and helpful via Facebook. It's a 1999 with 150k miles.
Seems people generally frown on buying pre built around here. This XJ seems cleaner than usual with tasteful mods and some better parts used. Mods were done by well-reviewed shop (I looked it up) and seller has receipts for the work done.
I pulled an Autocheck report and it backs up everything seller has said. It's been pretty clean with 3 owners, no accidents reported, and kept in Wash./Idaho.
From the posting:

Seller is asking $6,500. What do you all think of that price given the condition and the rust in the linked video below? Hoping to use as my daily driver (roundtrip commute of 10 miles) with some light trail use on the weekends and occasional longer camping/ski trips.
Here's a video the seller made of the undercarriage for me:
Nice looking ride just check it over really well some problems can be disguised very easily.
I am not a fan of lifting to past 2" myself but that is just me.
Cash talks big when buying so be your own judge.
I am pretty sure most people don't actually look for dates when they post.
We badly need some kind of default setting that locks threads after about a year of no activity.
Yes, that's probably true.
Do you know if the forum archives threads forever or do they eventually get purged? I'm asking because potentially useful threads that are really old can still provide helpful information.
An embedded feature is being looked into. This is something cruiser54 has brought up before, but wasn't paid attention too, however it's being revisited now, as well as some other features we would like to get implemented. Don't have a time-line for any of it yet, but it is being looked at.
