So I'm building my XJ, and I am putting together a kit that will stay in the jeep full time of accessories/tools.
Right now I have a ****** rope, and shackle ropes. I have a jack and lug wrench that work well.
Other things I think I'm going to add:
Tire deflator
carpet square
Trash bags/grocery bags for trash
zip ties
a small set of tools
But was looking for other suggestions on stuff to keep in the jeep for mild off road trails.

in the floor behind the passenger seat is a Craftsman socket set with a few extra tools in the case. Fits nicely in the floor and doesnt mind being stepped on.
Under the rear seat is...
1 small bottle jack
one small scissor jack
Several blocks of wood like 2x4s
spare serpentine belt
a few garbage bags
Glove box holds napkins, manuals, and insurance/reg card
Center console
maintenance/oil change record book
P320 mag
Flashlight
few small tools
USB charge cord
Cargo area
Spare 31/10.5/15
couple sheets of corrugated fiberboard for laying on the ground
Large breaker bar with a socket for the front axle shaft nuts
Ice scraper/snow duster
tow/recovery strap
milk crate with oil, antifreeze, power steering fluid, and tranny fluid
Also in the cargo area is a large old school Craftsman "carpenter" tool box
many wrenches
Sockets/ratchets that arent in the other set
Screw drivers
Pliers
Hammer
Jumper cables
Ratchet straps
fuses
Spare Mopar CPS
Gloves
Rags
Knife
Electrical wire connectors
wire stripper/crimper
About a million other small things. If I need it while working on the jeep for something important and i dont have that tool in the jeep, I get one to keep in it.
I keep a pretty good assortment of tools and such in all three of my vehicles. Years of wrenching on my own and other peoples vehicles along side of the road have taught me well.

If I'm just around town, I don't keep all that....but if I'm going further out, road trip, or trails.... all the above... and I can witness it's all come in handy... especially on trails and road trips in the past.
It's just nice knowing that while rolling down the road in a 21 year old Jeep... if something decides to go sideways... outside of full on part failure... not much I can't fix on the spot.. and if in the middle of nowhere...that's a life saver.

my list changes depending on whether I am going wheeling or not. But I always have my recovery bag, which is always full. Bubba rope, three clevis (shackles), tree strap, tow straps, air hose for the on board air, winch controller and a few other goodies that go in and out. Tools are only enough to change a tire when not wheeling, but when wheeling I pack an under seat tool box full with racks of sockets, wrenches metric and standard, pry bar, two pound hammer, screw drivers, pliers, a full box of electrical stuff and a few rags
