Basic 3/8 drive socket set with SAE and Metric. Basic set of combination wrenches with SAE and Metric. phillips and strait slot screwdrivers. pliars, dikes, channel locks, vice grips and needle nose pliars. A basic set of torx tips. (you will use them more than you think). Crescent Wrench and Pipe wrench (just in case) (you will use these more then you think, too).

I have a bottle jack and a hi-lift ( the hi-lift isn't the best for changing tires)
I take a jug of 50/50 mix of water and coolant
jumper cables
shovel
recovery strap (w/loops not hooks)
a first aid kit in case I break down
blanket in case I need to sleep in the jeep
cell phone ( however I do need to get a cb)
fire extiguisher
a spare set of clothes
a flash light and a lantern
an ax
a knife
at least 4-5 qts. of oil
and that is just the stuff that I never take out of the jeep

dont forget zipties, they always come in handy. random things like bungees cords or ratchet straps will come in handy also. i have a tool kit thats always in the back and a milk crate with random things like some extra fluids, jumper cables, mini sledge, rubber mallet, oversized wrenches/sockets, i think a couple ujoints, trash bags, paper towels or a rag or two, etc.

a bright orange tarp, signal mirror, at least a gallon of water for yourself (seperate from the water for the coolent), blanket, food, knife, and or gun + extra ammo if you can carry it
