What to do with a 2WD XJ
ok so last winter i got a 1993 jeep XJ. i love love love my jeep. but the only down side is it is a 2WD not a 4WD. so me building it to be a rock crawling off roading monster dosent seam right. so i want to ask would be the best route to go. should i go add a small lift anyway even tho its just a regular 2WD or, keep stock and worry about performace and build a stoker engine? i just want a few ideas and throw up some pics of rigs that would help. thanks guys.

Mine is 2WD too. I still lifted it 3" and put 31s on it. I like to go camping, so mild trails to get to campgrounds are about all I encounter. If you're one of the people who wants to go offroading frequently, you're probably better off getting a 4x4 if you don't want to have to stay worried about mud.
But, 2WDs are very capable otherwise. Most people who offroad in their 4x4s actually keep it in 2WD until they NEED 4WD, just because it's more of a challenge. But yeah, the big problem is mud...
EDIT: Oh, and I live in Charlotte Go to school at western carolina though.

not really in comparison. you dont need anything special. everything for a 4wd will bolt right up to a 2wd. its all a direct swap. i plan on getting just about everything set with the rest of the jeep before i do my swap.

i know you like it, but you could always sell it and get a 4wd. They are a dime a dozen and you could get one cheap. just a thought.
