I finished putting in a Durango steering box and the C-Rock frame repair kit. I also put on a GC fan clutch. The XJ drives real nice now...no more sloppy steering and no overheating!! Next week, after I recover, I'll put in new RC UCAs and LCAs.

My friend got a 93 2-door today. Silver, 170k. Cracked windshield, unbalanced water pump (replacing tomorrow), and a bad u-joint. Not bad for $1500. Almost no rust and has the c8.25 rear axle. Once we get it trail worthy we are going wheeling together.

I've only driven about 25 miles since I finished the Durango steering box so I haven't been able to completely test it out and my old box was wasted so, I'm not sure of what driving improvements there are between a good XJ steering box and the Durango box. The turning radius seems the same and it is comfortably responsive with minimal input. The Durango box is beefier.
As far as setting it up, it is a direct bolt in, with one exception. The Durango box is about 1/2" thicker. So, you have to use a couple washers for spacers to bring the box off the frame. If you're going to do this mod...don't forget the washers...its a pain in the a*% to put them in after the fact...trust me.
The biggest issue I had was installing the C-Rock frame repair kit. Mostly because I have tow bar receivers installed and wanted to keep them. A little cutting and welding fixed that (thanks Doug).
The whole job, steering box and frame repair kit, took me about 10 hours...but I'm slow and I kept finding other things to fix...lots of missing bolts. Other than that, it wasn't too bad.
