I just spent the better part of 2 days trying to get the O'Reilly's brand rubber gasket to actually seal on my tranny pan to no avail. I'm not sure why I never learn that my rig will ONLY be leak free with Fel Pro gaskets and to just order one and wait for it rather than use something else. With the exception of the manifold gasket which is made by Banks all of my gaskets are Fel Pros, and I'll be damned if my rig doesn't throw a tantrum any time I try to use another brand

This was before I dumped a gallon of Dex/Merc on the pavement trying to use that gasket:

This gasket is junk. Avoid.
Anyways, new gasket in place, she actually holds all the transmission fluid now. Feels like it's shifting snappier. I guess we'll see if I can reclaim some MPG's. Last fill up I calculated less than 15, and it usually runs like 17-18.

good luck, I ordered the IRO stiffners, but that is way above my skillset. Will have a local frame shop weld them on.

Well the light and speakers came out decent enough. I'll end up painting the rest of the panels as we have to remove them with that same coyote tan Oryllllies interior spray. It's close anyways. Took about 2 cans of that.. then a can of matt clear.

Default Only if!

Very Red Xj

Only if I were to start all over! You are build your rig how I would like mine to be. Exact color. Lift and tires. I wouldn't do more than 3 inch lift and 31"s with 4.10 gears open diffs. Only mod other then these would be a SYE just because of the convenience of driving home in front wheel drive if there was a mishap with the rear drive shaft. I like your bumper too! Nice! Very nice!

Thanks! I started with 2" lift - so not a houge change - just enough to fit the smallest BFG's so they won't rub on the trail - got 9" at the rear diff to (with 35psi) Here is the review of the rear Bumper :

Today I rotated the tires and while doing so noticed that my pitman shaft is leaking worse than it has been in the past. I guess it's time to replace that Saginaw box. Doing some shopping online for this currently. I'm going to do that 98 Durango swap... Figure while I'm putting in a new box not refurbished I may as well change the pump and res while I'm at it.

Question: with a 4-5" lift is it advisable to use a drop pitman arm or should I stay with the stock one that I have installed now? It's turning fine and doesn't appear to be bound up anywhere or anything like that but my philosophy has always been if I'm going to replace the part, I may as well try to upgrade it.

For the record, I have no desire to attempt to change out the seals on the unit that is in there. To do that right it looks like I have to remove the entire shaft sector from above. If I'm doing all that I may as well pull the entire thing.

How is that going? I am doing mine, center stiffeners. Got to deal with a few dents on the frame and fitting the front drop brackets support to it also. I will add extra weld in nuts to give more mounting points for the tranfercase support cross member.

I gave up on C clamps and now use the Kant Twist brand clamps, the six inch wide Kant Twist clamp works perfect for the holding of the center stiffener for welding.

Default Got her running again!

Had a clogged fuel pump due to some bad gas, got that replaced and she runs like a champ! Also decided to touch up the wheels with some flat black.
