Needed a header panel. Someone here suggested a DIY junk yard. $50. for a used header panel. Two hours of me stumbling revealed that they have zero Jeeps like mine. I laughingly complained to the owner who within two minutes pointed out four or five of them to me. <g>

No front ends left so I bailed. Office girl said: we can always order you a new header panel for $65.

Great. Do that. Thanks.

Be here next tuesday. (This was last Friday I think)

Tuesday I forgot to go. Today they said: It arrived broken. Last one in warehouse.

OK; give me my money back.

BTW: We have the exact right header panel for your Jeep. $60.

I'm sick of waiting the fix my Jeep so I go pull it off. Oh; it takes me a half hour to find it. <g> This kind of works out because I keep all kind of extra brackets and wire mounts and screws and so forth.

Back at the house I find that the two new Dorman headlight assemblies had arrived. Even though it's getting late this invigorates me to field strip my front end: cut all the wire ties, remove all the various kinds of glue, take off the wood strips the grille was screwed onto, pull out all the broken jagged bits of 'used to be a head panel', etc.

I gradually piece it all back together and then find that the new headlight assemblies Do Not Fit. They are identical in every way but one. The little plastic sockets on the back do not have a recess / detent to 'snap' over the ball-ends of the adjuster rods. The new sockets are just tapered - there is no internal recess to capture and hold the adjust ends.

WTH? Over?

Anybody ever seen that before?

Is everything Chinese and Mexican crap now? It's just amazing to me. The SOB who molded these parts Had to know they weren't going to work. So why send them? Just to generate a return? <g>

You check ebay? Thats where I got mine. $70 brand new. China made of course.

The only things I was finding on ebay were just the grille shell. No light buckets, no grille itself, no wiring

Wiring I didnt need so I didnt search. I got the whole front end for mine for like $240 of ebay. Grille, buckets, header, bumper, bumper brackets, air deflector and bumper caps.

Got to Parris Island in February. Just a heads up, just to **** with you, they turn the AC on in the head when it's cold out and turn the heater on when it's warm out. Good times.
