No friggin dice.... had lock up issues on the way home tonight. Son of a .... time to look at solenoids. Crazy I can get nearly 100 miles no issues then BAM.

Changing oil tonight and taking a sample for Blackstone. Then gotta top off / check front diff. Seals leaked a bit after pulling axles for u joints. Fingers crossed that **** heals itself this time. Spewed a bunch initially. Not bad now. Just a couple drops after driving home.

 

Also ran a touch hot again on way home. Only does that when ambient temp is above 75ish and running 70mph +. Didn't get bad 220 or so but still,,,, ran er hard all weekend but never at freeway speeds and never got over 210....

I say change your brake switch...it was pretty cheap and like I had said, I didn't think it was the brake switch on mine but turned out to be. Hope you get it sorted out soon.

 

Ya... spose that's worth a day in court before pulling trans pan. I'll pick one up tomorrow and give er a whirl.

 

Looked at a set of the Rugged Ridge floor mats for the wife's 93 XJ. She likes them so I ordered her a set.

 

installed the gm charcoal canister and vent valve.

I've been eyeballin' those since I bought mine. Never did pull the trigger on 'em. No carpet now, but still probably gonna buy a set and just secure them in place with some pegs or something of the like. Need a little more of a heat barrier... 'cause ya know... flip flops and bare metal floor

Not normally. Unless the amp has been bypassed, it should add clarity really. Ours was the amplified infinity system and it still had all the original speakers in it.... sounded great. Are your tweeters functioning?

Yesterday now, I removed the rear suspension from the 86 xj. What pain in the rear. Had to remove the add on trailer hitch to get the rear leaf spring bolts out. All bolts came out without breaking no doubt a result of being PB Blasted for the last three weeks. Did some research on the add a leaf that came with the RC lift kit and discovered that the add a leaf was only good for 1 1/2" to 2" in the rear. The front coils provided about 3 1/4" static lift. Called RC and was told that was correct and to get 3 inches in the rear I would need to order their 3" spring pack. So...back to the Dakota bastard pack. Took all the spring packs apart, buffed the rust off the ones I plan to use, and painted them flat black. Going with a 3/8" spring bolt so I will have to modify the pin end to fit in the factory spring perch as well as enlarge the bolt hole in the xj spring. Going to work on that this evening and hopefully get the spring packs reassembled. Happy jeeping everyone.

 

You'll be much happier with that bastard pack than the AAL anyway man. Might be a little more work, but it'll be worth it.

I tried to install my XJ Cubby Sub yesterday but ended up troubleshooting my dead Alpine MRV-M500 amp for several hours instead. Completely dead, hit it with a hammer and it will power up for a split second, but no components look damaged on the board (checked most of the capacitors and they check out)

Alpine wants $80 to repair it (plus shipping to AND from), so probably $120 all said and done.

Scraping craigslist to see if I can get something locally because I am sick of having no bass!

 

Had an alignment done after running over a cinder block a few weeks ago.... Drives much better now

Picked it up from the muffler shop. No more rattling from a rusted out exhaust system. No highway drone. Nice low rumble so no waking up neighbors.
