Good to hear! I've heard good things about it but then I keep hearing NGK ones are better. They may be but I don't have the cash for them. And for $65 shipped isn't bad at all

I drove it all over creation (locally of course, hahaha,it' s bill-pay day,as I get paid on the 3rd-disabled here-and she gets paid on the 7th and 22nd). While out,I picked up 2 pair of Kicker DS series "factory replacement/upgrades" speakers. I got the rear pair installed today,I'l try and get the fronts in by next week, and hoping to squeeze a decent/not fancy in dash CD unit this month too (that factory casette player may have powere dth estock speakers for all those years, but not so good now-a-days )

factory speaker from 1998 on left

NOT the best pic,but the best of what I could shoot before the wife got home and saw what I was doing,hahaha...

Meh I had some of those. They don't like Sublime. All that bass. I'm hoping to drop some money into my sound system, when I can save some.

There shouldn't be bass in your 5 1/4s. That's what a sub and low pass filter are for.

Yep,pretty simple. On the old, there's a single plug with both wires, but 2 prongs on the new speakers (one for each wire),I just cut the plug off, crimped the wires into separate plugs (you can get these on the cheap where you bought the speakers usually,I got mine at Wal-Mart...hate that place, but sometimes it serves it's purpose :P ),or you could simply shove the bare wires in there wrapping them around the plug and wrap some electrical tape around it all, both work (and I've done both over the years,LOL),plugs look much neater though

I dig Sublime too-at 41 this month and feeling old though, these are fine for me. I'll add a sub or 2 later if I need more. Besides, what are you saying? That the factory last-century speakers were sounding better?

I meant like the bigger speakers fitting in stock location. The wiring I could handle. Lol

I have a sub. No low pass filter. I just pushed them past there breaking point too much I think.

No the speakers from last century were really bad too. I'm just saying, as myself of I had done my research and been a little patient. I wouldn't have bought the Kickers. That's just my opinion.

If you're happy with them then good. Glad you got a hooked up deal!

I'm just pointing out for those who don't know, you're gonna kill your speakers if you listen to music with bass and don't use LPF/HPF. Good head units have both built in, and most amps have their own LPF ****.

Got the AC system vacuumed and recharged after I replaced the expansion valve and drier. 34 F at the vents now. Yipppe!
And raised the transfer case skid to the backside of crossmember rather than the stock location on the underside of it.

Cut off about 2" of skid and bolted it back on after drilling new holes in skid. It's the 242 TC and hangs lower than the 231. Planning on reinforcing the skid/crossmember connection with plate steel.
