Took my XJ on a camping trip this weekend. To a lake just out of Steamboat Springs (Pearl Lake State Park). Played tetris before and after the trip. Pretty pleased with the how well it took the mountain passes.
I can't wait till I get my camper done so that we will have all the gear set-up and ready to go, so that I won't have to spend half the day packing for a weekend camping trip.

Did a little thing today. Saw another user on here do this quick little "mod" utilizing the stock spare location by flipping the bracket. Works pretty well.

Here ya go man... not anything major. I did deviate from his design though. I put the ratchet strap between the wall and the bracket instead of the hole in the front of the bracket. Seems to work better to me.

It's awful! Absolutely terrifying. 9" of lift, sprung over, with no shocks, no swaybar, no track bars, bad brakes, and four worn out TREs surrounding a bent tie rod.
Naturally, I've started using it for my 45 minute commute on one of the busiest highways in the country

Got one of those fancy IR wireless thermometer dohickeys to see how my front diff is doing temperature-wise. I still have a growling noise and I thought it was coming from there. To recap, about a month ago my BRAND NEW passenger side front axle seal gave up during a road trip, dumped most of the fluid, and the diff got hot enough to burn the paint off the cover.
This morning was the first time driving it on the highway since having the seal replaced again. When I got to my destination, the diff cover was only 140F which I think is probably fine. On a hunch, though, I also pointed it at the front output yoke on my transfer case and that sucker was at 190F, about 10 minutes after getting off the highway.
Would those readings be considered in the normal range?

I changed out the interior lights to LEDs last night. By far my favorite thing that I have done. Anyone who is on the fence about this... best $30 I've spent on this thing so far. Got them from Onewaylight, the product is very nicely packaged, each lighting "area" is separated and labeled and has good, clear instructions.

And I pulled apart the plastic pieces that give the light a pattern (no idea what this is called) and tossed 'em. Now the map light covers/buttons are completely clear. I think it turned out pretty cool.
