Took it for a couple test drives. The first one I had some punk kids throw an egg at me, I thought they did it cause I had no doors, but there was no way they could have known cause it was dark and we were going opposite ways (thankfully they hit my bumper and not me). The second one I had someone yell " where the hell are your doors?" I expected this from people so I got a good chuckle out of it
Haha people talk to me in traffic all the time. "What happened to your doors dude?!"

I almost bought an airhammer when I was doing this, but I doubt I could run it with my 5gal single-stage compressor. Oh and if you want your mirrors back, Orielly sells blind spot mirrors, just get those and bolt them into the hinges.

They flop around at speed but they work. Oh, and cut your pins a bit short to prevent ****ing your paint up, make the bottom pin shorter at least, that makes a huge difference getting them back on.

I doubt I would even bother trying to fix it if the heater went out... then again I live in Colorado so that isn't an option lol.

Thanks for the advise. I was thinking motorcycle mirrors but I think I'm gonna go with your idea. I was so pissed when I got done gettin them off I haven't even got them prepared to go back on yet haha I'm saving that for tomorrow

Oh and you can take the zinc/copper/whatevertheyare metal sleeves inside the hinges out, they'll fold over eventually and prevent the doors from going on. Only downside is this can allow some squeaking.

My doors squeaked like crazy before so it won't be anything I'm not used to

I usually respond that I went to Wyoming and they blew away, or that someone stole them. The other day had a conversation with some people in a JK with all four doors off about a "door thief" in town stealing everyone's Jeep doors

Haven't done the diagnostic yet but grabbed the CPS due to the fact it was the last one there. Checked the battery and it's solid. Going to do a spark plug check tomorrow. I've read about the XJ's doing this and I "should" replace the CPS, then coil, then module. Let me know if I'm ****ing it up!

I'm new to the XJ scene, I had a 2003 Kenne Bell Mustang Cobra so I know just a tiny bit about cars but it seems like XJ's are a whole different breed hah.

Be sure to do the mod to the upper hole before installing.

Are you gonna test it first?

Renix CPS Testing and Adjusting

Renix CPSs have to put out a strong enough signal to the ECU so that it will provide spark.
Most tests for the CPS suggest checking it for an ohms value. This is unreliable and can cause some wasted time and aggravation in your diagnosis of a no-start issue as the CPS will test good when in fact it is bad.
The problem with the ohms test is you can have the correct amount of resistance through the CPS but it isn’t generating enough voltage to trigger the ECU to provide spark.
Unplug the harness connector from the CPS. Using your voltmeter set on AC volts and probing both wires in the connector going to the CPS, crank the engine over. It won’t start with the CPS disconnected.
You should get a reading of .5 AC volts.
If you are down in the .35 AC volts range or lower on your meter reading, you can have intermittent crank/no-start conditions from your Renix Jeep. Some NEW CPSs (from the big box parts stores) have registered only .2 AC volts while reading the proper resistance!! That’s a definite no-start condition. Best to buy your CPS from Napa or the dealer.
Sometimes on a manual transmission equipped Renix Jeep there is an accumulation of debris on the tip of the CPS. It’s worn off clutch material and since the CPS is a magnet, the metal sticks to the tip of the CPS causing a reduced voltage signal. You MAY get by with cleaning the tip of the CPS off.
A little trick for increasing the output of your CPS is to drill out the upper mounting hole to 3/8" from the stock 5/16", or slot it so the CPS bracket rests on the bell housing when pushed down. Then, when mounting it, hold the CPS down as close to the flywheel as you can while tightening the bolts.

If you want to become familiar with your XJ, and at the same time do some worthwhile "fixes" that are free, click on the pink link in my signature and do #1,3, and 4 at a bare minimum.

Y'all are making me work too early this morning. Buy one of these and use a bolt or machine screw with a nut on the bottom of the hinge.

Free two day shipping if you have Amazon Prime. Not everyone has O'Reilly's around them, and none of my local stores carried those mirrors.

No, I mean it isn't a nationwide chain. They simply aren't here.
