finely got aroud to checking my trans fluid and found there was way to much so i drained about 1/2 a quart and it its runnin a whole lot better... and while doin that i found i have a rear main seal next on the list. now i wish i paid a lil bit less for it. all lil fixes but man one after the other. oh well
I'd be looking up ABOVE first, and VERIFYING the source of the oil leak YOURSELF.
Everybody, who doesn't own or have to pay for or perform your vehicle repairs, loves to poke their noggin UNDER the Jeep and come out bearing the false bad news that your RMS is leaking.
Many mechanics, friends, people on Jeep forums who can’t see your Jeep from where they’re at, and good old Uncle Bob seem to enjoy telling you it’s the rear main seal. Has a catastrophic ring to it, doesn’t it?
A simple leak at the back of the valve cover or other source could produce the same symptoms. You don’t need to be a mechanic to figure this out. If you have good eyesight and a dim flashlight, you’re good to go on your own. Don't jump on the RMS/oil pan gasket bandwagon right off the bat.
Almost any oil leak on your 4.0 is gonna drip from the RMS area for two simple reasons.
First off, the engine sits nose-up and any oil will run back to the RMS area. Secondly, the RMS area is also the lowest point on the engine. Simple physics and the old plumber's adage apply here. "$hit flows downhill".
Valve cover gasket, oil pressure sending unit, oil filter adapter seals and distributor gasket, in that order, have to be eliminated as possibilities first.

I've been driving mine back and forth from work, and hearing a poping noise every time I put it into gear and hit the gas, so I've been looking under and shaking it down while still getting clumps of mud on me lol

Trying to chase down a grinding noise that just started in the front passenger side. Only happens when the wheel is turned even the slightest to the left. Sounds like a splash shield but I cannot tell. Don't have anyone to help me pin point it. Only happens when vehicle is in motion. Not when still. Doesn't make it when wheel is straight or going right. Gets really loud when parking it in the driveway or a spot that I turn left into. But annoying when driving.

Haven't done anything. (On vacation) have been ordering parts though! New leaf spring (thanks RC) hubs, down pipe, dynomax turbo muffler, got some more stickers and a gopro! Gonna use that in Colorado.
Just took over a 95 Sport with 43K from my 87 yr old mom.
I just had a new serpintine belt, waterpump, thermastat, hoses and an oil change ( the last one was in dec 2010, about 1300 miles ago.)
I personally just ordered some new front mats and glued down the rubber roof protectors with some 3 m adhesive using blue paiter's tape to hold it all down overnight.
Replacing the OEM stereo with a modest unit and getting a remote start/keyless entry put in by the weekend.

43k? It's not even broken in. Take care of it and you'll get at least another 300k out of it.
