I feel for ya man. That was my scenario last week. With a little fiddlin and diddlin you can get that bugger to swim out of the slot. Try to flip and turn it. Force is not the answer. You'll need the hardened "10.9" graded replacements. I have the P/N's in my notebook and will send inaminit. First I'm getting some dinner...

Okay I'm fed and I got my notes. Let's see - for my '99XJ the track Bar is Moog P/N DS1235 and it cost $125. That bolt is Jeep P/N 6505549AA and the nut with the retainer is Jeep P/N 6506264AA - together they cost about $20.

The original nut and bolt were frozen rusted together so that bolt had to snap no matter how much PB or heat was applied. Mine broke at the same point as yours. Patience paid-off when extracting the remains of the broken bolt/nut - like I said "fiddle and diddle" it out.

My new replacement hardware broke during installation. The new bolt broke at 60 ft-lbs when attempting to torque it to 74 ft-lbs per the FSM. The parts guy at the dealer was kind enough to replace it free, claiming it was defective.

Note that the new nut is "egged" out-of-round at the back end of the nut to provide a locking feature. Just use anti-seize to aid in the final threading and tightening. Be careful when torquing it in. If it feels uber tight then stop - forget about the torque wrench because once that bad boy is tight then it is not about to back off from vibration.

Good Luck.

BTW: I just finished replacing my steering stabilizer and I'm thanking the Jeep gods for an easy in-and-out this time.

High idle should peg it around 1200 RPM... that looks like a vacuum leak to me
