The flush kit comes with a tee fitting you install into the heater hose, hook a water hose to the fitting, remove radiator cap, open radiator drain plug, turn on water, crank vehicle, turn on heater to circulate, once clean water starts stop water and vehicle, unhook hose, once radiator drains replace drain plug, refill with coolant/water.
Not quite sure why but gonna keep a close eye on it.

I took the day to fix some nagging things on the XJ.
Fixed the brake lights,
Flushed the heater core so we'll have heat this winter for a change,
Fixed the passenger seat so its actually bolted to the floor again,
Readjusted the W. wipers so they was covering the glass for a full stroke instead of 3/4 of it.
Replaced the injector O-Rings, this actually was the reason for working on it, I smelled gas and seen that a couple was dribbling.
So its all happy again.
Rear brake job is due before long too, but I've got to finish the wifes car first, at that time I'll drop in the Trac-lok carrier I have for it too.
