Default welding question

I'm going to be building a swing out tire carrier soon. I'm going to be making my spindle at work. Question is, how well does stainless weld to like cold/hot roll steel?

From my understanding it can be done and I believe you will use stainless rod but I am sure someone will be able to chime in with more specifics.

Any time you would try to weld stainless to carbon with be with a tig using 309 rod. I'm not sure I would try to weld to a bumper, maybe make the carrier assembly using stainless the attach it to the bumper using grade A bolts.

The stainless part will be the spindle.

That should be ok, have to find a friend or a weld shop that has a tig and some 309 rod, it should work for you.
