Default Is this welder big enough???

"I have a multi-mig welding machine made by Telwin(Italian) up for sale. It is a 65amp model that is good for doing small household projects. Comes with argon bottle, regulator, welder and all leads ready to run."

It's only $165 with the argon bottle and gauges.

I want to be able to weld a rear or front bumper (fabricate it) and maybe some rock guards. I only have access to $200-$250 or so to play with right now.

What is the amp requirement for a 110/120 volt welder to be able to do those tasks? I know bigger is always better, but I need a cheap welder.

I am going to say no... might be able to weld some sheetmetal, but I wouldnt even attempt to weld anything thicker then 20 gauge. To weld 1/8 I would suggest at least a 120 amp welder or bigger.

too small. look into the hobart handler 140. you CAN NOT BEAT the price vs. quality for it. google and you will likely find nothing but great reviews for it.

I would not wanna use my 90amp for bumpers. 65 is even lower!

x2

Between 120- 175 amp works however you will need 220V for anything above 150 most of the time.

I toasted 3 of those welders in 3 months. Awesome welder I agree. Welded better then anything I've used sence but can't handle running on the highest heat. But of course this was about ten years ago so they may have fixed the issue. I've had my Lincoln ten years and I've done more with it than it was ever designed for

yeah, go for the Hobart if you need a good welder at a good price. I have a 135 handler, and it welded my 1/4 steel bumper just fine. and I mean the whole bumper is 1/4"... Future reference, only need 1/4" for mounts and winch mount. I've got 1/2" where my winch attached. It is HEAVY... lol.

I bought my lightly used 135 on ebay for 260, but shipping from tx to pa was pricey... another 160. and you really never know what you are getting on ebay... I got lucky.
