take the thing and convert it back to 4wd & put a lift on it... keeping the motor and interior.

so a quarter mile (so called) is now 1,000'? You're right I'm clueless to what it takes to run in the quarter mile as I've never been timed. But I'm sure you know all about it... I do know this though, a good friend of mine built his '64 nova and put about 20k in the purchase and build of his car.. tubed etc he owns a shop and did it all himself including paint, sadly hes in the high 10's.. but again his car is worth 50K.. I do know a have a friend named lloyd mosier 'little giant killer' who builds vw's and held 1st place in the 1/4 mile for many years (now in second place).. oh I'm sorry I forgot to mention he was 8.56 or something.. yeah and his buggy ownly cost him around 10k to build, but he could sell if for??????? my point is..I'd never build a jeep of all things to race out.. its ridiculous..

btw my diesel prolly does high 12's but whos to say or care, they cost 48k and to build a motor about 10k (without nitrous) efi live tuned I can do about 11's but I'm not into throwing money away after something breaks as it always does when you hot rod.. I'll build you a motor and charge you 40K and make 25k profit..

Just cuz your running 9's in the qrtr doesnt mean you have to spend gobs of money..

Personal preference determines how much someone would pay. Its your money, spend it how you want. Nothing wrong with being different. Said builder of jeep wanted a fast one, so he did it. Would it be fun to pull up next to a vette knowing you could take him, yes. Spending just as much as what it would cost to purchase a used vette, no. But I work for my money so it goes to whats impartant.

 

im not against drag racing a jeep. we have an srt8 cherokee in the family. but those were designed for that. the cherokee is an suv that is known for its off roading ability. so no, not all are used for off road driving. but the vehicle was clearly intended to do so
