Vaccum AC system?
When I bought my 99 cherokee the compressor had already been taken out and replaced w some pully thing. The lines aren't capped or anything. I'm tired of my having AC so I decided to install a compressor. I thought I could just install the compressor and charge the system but some ppl are telling me I need to vacuum out the system after installing the new compressor and before recharging. Is this a must do and if so is the a simple way to DIY?

Yes u must vacuum out the lines.. U ll need a AC system analyzer with two gauges and high/low hoses
U put the yellow hose to an air compressor and use it to pull vacuum out of the lines to 7 lbs then u charge it with 2-3 cans of freon

Do lots of reading before you venture into this. Get a set of manifold gauges, and if you don't have an air compressor, get an electric vacuum pump. When you replace the compressor you'll need to get oil, and you will need to change the accumulator and it's also advisable to remove the condensor and flush it out, and also replace the orifice tube.
