Default Using the Jack!

OK Guys can you tell me how your supposed to use the standard Jeep bottle jack and get the wheel actually off the ground?

I put it in front of the rear wheel on the chassis rail and despite having a brick under it still did not get the wheel off the ground!

Should I invest in a 2 or 3 ton trolley jack instead?

No my Cherokee is Standard so wondered why the standard jack would not even get close to lifting the wheel of the floor!

Will have to get a larger trolly jack at least 3 tons should be OK.

Yep get a floor jack. I never had the stock jack but I know these xj's are rather flexy Even with my 3 ton floor jack it does not get the wheel up off the ground for quite a while lol.

You'r supposed to put it under the axle not the frame.I'm lifted 5in and 31s and my stock bottle jack will raise it to change a tire.

Yeah get a aftermarket jack.I got a hi lift and a bigger bottle jack,BUT even w 3''s of lift and 31s I can stick my stock jack under the front axle in front of the LCA and get it up plenty high enough to change a tire or whatever,Jack from the axle not the unibody(frame)

Thanks now I see how to use it, did the usual male thing and did not look at the handbook just 'assumed' you used it like a jack on a normal car!

Handbook clearly shows to use the jack on the axle!

DOH!

I am New to 4x4 so still learning!!
