Sand the bottom, primer, then lay down the undercoating.

Use a flap disc and die grinder to get down to bare metal. It's a pain and is a huge mess but don't paint over that crap.

Any reputable brand with rust inhibitors should be fine if you're going onto bare metal.

Thought that stuff was busted? Didn't hold up long term or something.

What kind do you have? I've got 3 distinct types on my shelf here, rubber, rubberized asphalt, and just asphalt

I used a 'hard shell' undercoating. Professional grade. 1 gallon. Applied with air gun. High VOC content and fast dry. Does not peel, crack or chip.
After 2 years in the salt and sand it is holding up good.
I have tried the asphalt stuff like Rusfre but it remains semi-tacky.
Also 'fogged' the insides of doors with a clear rust preventative that creeps into tight spots. Does not effect electronics or window mechanisms. Rusfre Clear. Here in the salt air my doors rust from the bottom up on previous jeeps.

I have a can of it in my garage waiting for me to slather my Jeep in it. I have not heard or seen a single bad thing about Chassis Saver...can't wait to start applying it, one fine day!

Sounds like bedliner?

I'm actually liking the rubberized stuff for absorbing noise.

Everything I've read is that POR-15 is far superior
