Default ummmm...what to do..free axles?

So.. i was talking to my buddy, telling him i ws looking for a cheap 44 or 8.8 for my project, he says he'll "look" around.

Then he calls me yesteray to tell me he found some for me.His buddy has a truck he's gonna dump.

Its a 88?chevy suburban 3/4 ton. So i call his buddy..we get to chattin and say...f it...come get them free? A D44 front..but pass side drop, 60 rear"locked" NP205/208? transfer case and a turbo 400 trans.FREE! but i gotta pull.

Now...i really hadn't planned on going tons..but its free.

So...waste a day and pull for another project..or pass?
Pull and horse trade/sale for the parts i need?
Dont wann really screw with having to put a d300 in my jeep and swap everyhing else over?

Ahhh...what to do what to do?

If you don't want to deal with the D300 swap (or the 3/4 tons), take everything and sell/trade it for the other parts you need.

It's most likely a 14 bolt rear. Gm didn't use Danas in the rear much. I wouldn't run those axles. The 14 bolt is crazy strong but its not worth swapping to pass side in the front just for a Dana 44. Maybe if you found a high pinion 60 ford for the front. They're also very heavy. I'd sell everything out of the drivetrain and part out what you can then scrap the truck. Could easily get a grand out of just the drivetrain and scrap.

From a 3/4 ton chevy, the front is a D44 with bigger ends on it and the rear is a corpoate 14 bolt. The T-case is probably an NP205, cast iron and VERY stong. I had the same thing on a '76 full size Blazer with 4" lift and 35" tires. Axle tubes were big enough to give me another 1.5" lift. Tough as nails set up if you have a big Chevy. I'd get'em for tradin' stock. Just tell the O.L. "but honey, I've had these for years...."
