HOW would you know if ur transfer case is going bad

if you drain the fluid and there are metal parts in it or if you turn on the 4x4 and u here like a grinding or bag of change in it and see if the front drive shaft is spinning then go from there

It sticks sometimes ..like if i was to dis-engage it would remain awd for a while or until i put i reverse

If it just isn't disengaging all the way it could be your linkage needs to be adjusted.

Your symptom sounds familiar to a problem I have. Do you have the NP242 or NP231 case?

That happened to my NP242 then about a year later I blew out my t-case and swapped to a NP231

my np 231 stays 4h in until i stop completely yeah sounds like you need to check your leakage might have some problems with that
