Should I get an alarm?
I was alittle upset when I took out the old broken alarm/keyless entry/remote start system the p/o put in. I could tell it was expensive because I know he put it in a long time ago and it had a shock sensor.. So now I am getting a new viper system and I know our car's arent exactly an Acura Integra but has anybody been in the same situation as I and regretted not getting an alarm? I can get a perfectly good system for <50$ on amazon.
Any input appreciated...Thanks, Rob

My alarm(see pic). But on a serious note, I find car alarm systems really annoying and tedious. I had one of my dodge truck and always had to slide the key to take alarm off so i could start it.

I would. I have a sound system but for now my tinted windows do the trick. Make sure you do it right or have it done right. I had a car that the P/O ripped out the alarm he had and its had electrical problems for years.

Im pretty skilled when It comes to basic wiring (which just a Keyless entry system is) I took out the old system and Its perfectly fine, I even left some lines out so for that when I installed the new system I would already have the wires ready. I even made a cool trick out of the old alarm speaker with the momentary switch (mentioned above). Not trying to brag because I am far from a god at wiring but I'm fairly skilled as said before. Thanks, Rob. P.s. I also just tinted my windows but I have the factory sound system with an aftermarket HU with the detachable face plate. Just alot of emergency equipment I want to protect as my vehicle is a first responder vehicle.)

I personally don't like alarms where I live they get ignored anyway.
My jeep alarm is disconnected, immobilisers and alarms in the past just a head ache I can do without.
My girlfriends car alarm kept going off at night time (when your trying to sleep) so have removed fuse for horn so all it does now with slightest bit of wind or cat on roof is turn on blinkers.

It is always hard to judge whether things like this should be done. Unfortunately all systems are thwartable, and if someone really wants to get in a vehicle they will. The more obstacles you put in the way, the more they may damage things getting past them.
If you are going to get an alarm, try to find a decent one with adjustability in sensitivity. If I was going that direction, I'd look for an expensive one that texts you when it goes off so you know something is up
I go with a kill switch to make it less likely that someone can drive away in my baby, and hope that insurance will pay for stuff that gets taken out if it ever does.
I freakin hate thieves.
