hi there, my brother has an 85 4runner with a blown engine he is gonna give it to me. i was wondering if i could tow it home either on a car dolly or car trailer? ive towed smaller cars with it. (civic, camery, ect) but will it tow the 4runner ok? i have to tow it about 8 hours. let me know what you think. 4.0 not HO, auto tranny, tow package. all fresh fluids, including dif fluid. new break pads all around.

Me personally? I wouldn't even consider towing it that far.
The ONLY way I see it being remotely possible is if it's downhill the whole way and you towed it on a car dolly with brakes.

A trailer would be better, however, a dolly will be lighter and maybe a little better to pull behind the Jeep. I say that, simply because I know my car hauler trailer weighs about 2500 lbs empty. Once you add a vehicle on top of that weight, I would think it would exceed the rating of the Jeep. I know my XJ on my trailer exceeds the tow rating of my roommate's MJ. That would depend on the trailer you use too, and I know for sure a uhaul trailer weighs barely less than mine, if you're looking to rent a trailer or dolly.
