Default Tow Hook Question

I have a '98 xj with a 3" lift and all stock bumpers plastic trim and bumper caps etc. and also no tow hitch. My question is where would be the best place to put some tow hooks or should I look for a tow hitch and new front bumper? I want to do some more offroading/mudding but I'm afraid to do much without a good place to tow out with. Thanks

What solution are you going with? I'm in the same situation, and going back and forth between a couple ideas.

Well I found a couple threads on it and for the front I found this: http://jeephorizons.com/tech/xj_hook.html And for the back I'll prob just get a tow hitch. The tow hooks and brackets come up for sale here on the forum a lot I think. Ha I just didn't know what they really were.

Hah yep yep. I would hate to have to tow out from my axle or something, but I don't go offroading that often so I'm just waiting to find some front hooks used

FWIW, I have the IRO tow hook bracket and it is pure beef. Would be easy to add a receiver to it for a winch. Comes with the cross member, two tow hooks and all mounting hardware. About $100.

Not the best pics but you get the idea.
