I don't like any of the new Jeeps (The JK is an exception, still has a solid axle), IFS is always crap in my book. Also- perfect as to what not to say to an XJ owner.

x2..what not to say to an XJ owner....but seriously...if you wanted a new jeep, why not get the JK ? Why do you need new? Save yourself 15,000 plus and get a nice 2001 XJ for around $5,000. It will last forever with proper maintenance and it will save you a fortune......Just my .02 cents

Sorry for getting a little off-topic here, but IFS isn't always bad. Look up the Oshkosh Tak-4 independent suspension used on our military trucks. It works so good the government forced Force Protection (competitor of Oshkosh Defense) to buy them and put them on the RG31s in the field. No straight axle can compare to what we build. If you want to lift the vehicle to ungodly heights, sure it's easier to do with a straight axle, but if you want ride quality, independent suspension wins hands down, which is why I think Jeep's going to IFS. More people want ride quality and not to jack the crap out of it. Just my .02
