The American Top Gear suffers from having to fit American cable television time allotment and advertising, etc.
They don't have time to do a review segment, a big star small car segment, and a challenge segment all in one episode most of the time because of the mass of commercials that have to be shown.
BUT, the thing US Top Gear has going for it that TGUK doesn't is that you can actually believe have the crap they're saying... unlike TGUK, which is so scripted, isn't nearly impossible to know what is real and what was planned.
Not only that, but Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond were television presenters prior to their gig on Top Gear, so they know how to entertain.
Tanner Faust, Rutlidge Wood and Adam Ferrara are not presenters, they're car guys, which is why they seem less entertaining - but they definitely seem more genuine.

TGUK is obviously scripted, and a lot of what they do is total crap. Even half the reviews are meant to be jokes, but that's the fun of the show. The show is still amusing and they do creative stuff, whereas the US version bores me terribly. It just seems like a cheap copy to me, but I've been watching TGUK for years, so I'm biased.

Umm Adam Ferrara is a comic and has been for a LONG time so he should know a little something about entertaining. I dont know much about Rutlidge Wood but he doesnt seem like much of a "car guy" to me other then he reads a little Road and Track now and then and can regurgitate the information. Tanner is a great driver but dull as hell. You say TGUK is scripted and I agree but it is also very witty where TGUS is far from it. It seemed like they took a fantastic show and dumbed it down for the American audience. I cant watch it, its horrible. The episodes I have seen have made me want to turn the channel because its so bad

I have some "idiot diesel boy" friends with 12v cummins rigs with less money in them than your Cherokee that would leave you with some soiled underpants. You've clearly not run into a good running diesel if you think a Cherokee is quick when racing them on the street. Don't get more wrong I love my Cherokee as much as the next guy, in the woods. But give it a break, even the best running 4.0 is slow as *****. Period. Unless the only thing you've driven is a 2.3 Cherokee.
1. 12 Valve Cummins put out 160 Horsepower... 30 less than a 4.0, and in a MUCH heavier package.
2. SO you're comparing built Cumminses to stock 4.0's pushing big tires? Questionable.
3. My 4.0 Hauls ***** when I get on it. Maybe it's not that we've never come against a good running Cummins, but that you've never come against a good running 4.0.
As an additional side note, I should mention that 2.3 = Ford. The Four Banger that Jeeps have are 2.5's.
