Can you cut the stock plastic corner cover and bolt it to the spittybilt bumper?
so the wheel well trim extends down and covers the gap?

Most after-market bumpers leave space there. The ARB I had in the past and my current JCR one have that same space in both locations (under the grill, too short to reach fenders). If you are talking about the fender, most people who are buying bumpers probably end up trimming/going with after market fenders any ways and it would be a PITA to have to trim the bumper. If you are talking about the grill, not sure why they do that- tolerances for changes through the years?

I don't see a big deal tbh. A lot of aftermarket XJ bumpers require pre-97 XJs to cut there. All 97+ XJs are cut there from the factory.
