Default Text for lift help

So I'm lifting my Jeep tomorrow with a buddy. Even though it's already lifted, it's my first time doing it. My friend has experience with lifting and stuff, since his XJ is lifted and he fabs stuff up for it all the time. We're installing a 6.5'' lift, shocks, adj. track bar, and a hack n tap. I'm pretty nervous.. lol. I was wondering if anyone isn't busy tomorrow afternoon, if I could text you guys in case I come up with an issue we can't fix. I won't really have time or the resource to post on the forum. My other jeep friends are mostly busy tomorrow too, so.

Kind of weird asking, I know, but if you want to, send me a PM! lol

Cheers

Appreciate it! haha I'm just worried I won't get that fast of a response if something doesn't look right or something breaks during the lift process. I don't have a lot of time to lift it, we're starting after work tomorrow around 1p then going until 9 or 10, then assuming it needs more work, finish up (hopefully) after work on Sunday 2p- whenever. He has access to a bunch of tools, and I plan on bringing a torch, and as many backup bolts as possible lol.

Have you started spraying PB blaster on everything you'll be taking off yet? If not... I'd go do that now. Even then SOMETHING will seize. If you have time constraints, I would wait to start this project until you don't. Especially at 6.5", that's going to require changing a lot of components of your suspension. Something WILL take a lot longer than expected. Just a heads up.

You will most likely break the upper shock mount bolts in the rear, put a 4.5 on my xj last weekend and all 4 broke.

I've been PB blasting for the last few weeks. I'm also bringing a torch along just in case something's stubborn. Unfortunately I don't have the choice of dedicating more than a weekend, unless something takes longer while we're doing it, then I don't have a choice. I just don't want to overstay my welcome at my buddies. My current lift couldn't have been installed that long ago, but I suppose anything can go wrong, right?

I'm going to pickup new bolts and washers from this guide: https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f51/br...-guide-150384/ just so if it happens, I'll be prepared.

Thanks

I have to pickup new u bolts for my 8.25. Will 1/2'' stock, 3'' bend, and at least 6.75 height be fine? If it's taller, I can cut it, but will those be fine for my 6.5 leafs? I'm also planning on relocating my brake lines until I buy nicer extended ones. I don't plan on wheeling at all until I do so.

Oh if you've already had a lift put on once, then you should be in better shape than installing a lift to a stock vehicle. Didnt realize you were already lifted.

Ah, yeah! It's lifted to like 3-4'' or so, and I'm going to a new 6.5.

Not yet. My current LCA is like 17'' and the UCA is about 15-16'' or so (both fixed). I was told in another thread that they're too big for my lift now, and too big for drop brackets, and should work for this lift. Granted, the ride will probably be horrible, but I don't plan on wheeling much if at all with them. I'm going to do a long arm upgrade within the next few months. I just didn't want to wait until it starts snowing it do my lift and long arms.
