survival kit?
I was watching a 20/20 show the other day and a family got stuck in the snow for 9 days and the father ended up dying because he left the car to go find help. that got me wandering what i should put in my jeep for such an occasion.
I already have all the tools to take the jeep apart completely, a spare serpentine belt, oils, fuses
Here is what i am thinking about addinf

I would say an LED lantern/torch - they can last for ages. Get one that flashes. Especially if you can recharge it from your Jeep (or just take the battery out of your Jeep and run it direct) - and a pole to put the light on incase you're in a dip/brush/snow. Maybe you could use the pole for your CB antenna too?
I'd put in a compact tent and/or goretex bivvi bag and a sleeping mat. They don't take up much space and you can use the sleeping mat if you're working under your Jeep day to day...

Small candles can provide a significant amount of heat. Toss a few in your glovebox during the winter.
Space blankets are small but do a great job of retaining heat.
Water is a must have!!
Cellphone charger.

Probably the most important thing missing on your post is recovery gear. If you get stuck in an area that no one will find you in a day, you should have the tools to get yourself unstuck.
1. a couple of straps
2. High lift jack
3. a base to keep the high lift from sinking into the mud or snow
These things I would consider the very minimum, a winch would be the best.
