maybe the best idea yet. let some one know where you are going and whenyou will be back.
daddy didn't have to die if someone was expecting him. they would have come looking long before he was a pop-cicle.

i have some straps already, i want to make a roof rack with some lights and attach a high jack up there, seen some pretty sweet ones lately. A front and rear bumper is coming soon, going to make a towing hitch on the front so i can get a hitch mounted winch that i can move from front to back when i need it.
The kit above is really sweet, but a little out of budget for a poor college kid.
The father in the story was going to stay a night at a hotel a couple miles off the main road and missed the exit so went down a little ways and took a different road and ended going onto a logging road that was supposed to be locked. so everyone looked on the roads and never thought to go into the locked area.

Spare stocking cap (or two)
Gloves (both winter & work)
Feet & hand warmers (the shake up, disposable kind)
Rechargeable, hand crank radio (I go ride with a hand crank led lamp as well)
Headlamp (light worn on head so you can work hands free)
Gas mask
Foldable/pocket fishing rod
WetFire or some other easily combustable material (cotton soaked in vaseline works well)
Magnesium rod (fire striker)
Knife (ahem, or other personal protection devices)
CB radio
Compass
Signal mirror
Anyhow, some things I have in my truck that I didn't see mentioned yet.
